Quickstart

From sign-up to a running chat widget — in just a few minutes. Create an account, connect your shop, crawl your knowledge base, embed the widget, and test it live.

Alpheris automatically crawls your domain as a knowledge base and answers customer questions in a grounded way — meaning based solely on your real shop content. Onboarding sets up most steps automatically; this page walks through the complete process.

Requirements

  • An Alpheris account — sign up for free now.
  • Your shop domain (e.g. your-shop.com) that is publicly accessible.
  • Access to your website's theme/template to insert the widget snippet — or a Shopify or WordPress account for the 1-click installation.

The paid Basic and Business plans start with a 14-day trial. See Plans & Billing for details.

Live in 5 Steps

1
Create an account
Sign up in the Dashboard and confirm your email. The guided onboarding starts right afterward.
2
Connect your shop
Enter your domain. If Alpheris detects Shopify or WordPress, you can install the widget with 1 click (OAuth); otherwise the connection runs through the widget code. Your domain is verified in the process and bound to your Install ID.
3
Crawl data sources
Alpheris automatically crawls your domain (including sitemap and product metadata) and builds the knowledge base from it. You can also upload additional files such as PDFs.
4
Embed the widget
Insert the code snippet from the Dashboard before the closing </body> tag — or, on Shopify/WordPress, use the 1-click install, which sets the snippet automatically.
5
Test & customize
Open your site, open the chat widget, and ask a real question. You then adjust the design, color, and behavior in the Dashboard.

Step 2 — Connect Your Shop

Alpheris embeds the widget using one of three methods. Which one is right for you depends on your platform:

For Shopify and WordPress, your domain is automatically marked as verified and (if present) the www. variant is created as well. More on this under Domains.

Step 3 — Crawl Data Sources

As soon as your shop is connected, an initial crawl of your domain starts. Alpheris reads pages via the sitemap, detects product and OG metadata, and builds the knowledge base from it — the base the AI draws its answers from.

You can also upload files in the Dashboard to supplement the knowledge base — e.g. terms and conditions, shipping information, or FAQ documents. Supported formats include .pdf, .txt, .md, .csv, .docx, and .xlsx. Every upload is checked with a virus scan.

HTML and SVG files are not allowed as uploads. For content from your website, Alpheris uses the crawl of your domain. You'll find more details and all allowed formats under Data Sources & Knowledge Base.

If the crawl fails (e.g. because your site is behind a protection layer), Crawl Behind Cloudflare and Crawl Failed can help.

Step 4 — Embed the Widget

For Shopify and WordPress, the widget is set automatically by the 1-click install — you don't need to copy anything. On all other platforms, insert the following snippet once, directly before the closing </body> tag of your page:

HTML
<!-- Alpheris Chat Widget -->
<script src="https://alpheris.com/widget.js" data-alpheris-key="INSTALL_ID" crossorigin="anonymous" async></script>
<!-- End Alpheris Chat Widget -->

Replace INSTALL_ID with your personal Install ID from the Dashboard (under Install). The snippet is available there, pre-filled and ready to copy.

The Install ID is bound to your verified domain. For security reasons, the widget only loads on the approved domain (strict-domain mode). You'll find a detailed guide under Widget Code.

Step 5 — Test

Reload your page (clearing the browser cache if needed) and check the following:

  • The chat button appears in the bottom right. Clicking it opens the widget.
  • Ask a real question about your product range or about shipping/returns. The answer should be based on your crawled content.
  • If you write in another language, Alpheris automatically replies in that language.
Done. Your AI chatbot is live. Now refine the design and tone — and, if needed, enable the AI Inbox for email and messaging.

If the widget doesn't appear, check that the snippet really is placed before </body> and that the domain is verified in the Dashboard. Further tips under Troubleshooting.
